Making
his U.S. directorial debut, noted Austrian
filmmaker Alexander Vesely shares his most
personal film yet, charting the life of his
eminent grandfather, Viktor Frankl. With years
of experience behind the camera as a director
and editor of short films, commercials, and
documentaries, Alex has taken his talents around
the globe, producing films in Europe, the U.S.,
and Latin America.
The movie, "Viktor & I", places the “I” in the
viewer’s hands, open to subjectivity, moving
from personal friends, to family members, or an
eye toward insight. Working alone for the past
three years, he traveled all over the world
serving as architect, director, cameraman,
editor, and producer to bring us this insightful
look at Viktor Frankl through the eyes of those
closest to him. Recently, he wrote that
“producing a documentary is a bit like a
treasure hunt, you keep finding pearls on every
corner, around every turn”. Volumes have been written by and about Dr.
Viktor Frankl; though, until this film, the
public has yet to see him in this light, both
intimate and playful. The genius of the work is
that while allowing us these glimpses into the
privacy and normalcy of this great man’s life,
it further piques our interest in Dr. Frankl’s
work and showcases his extraordinary mind.
Alexander Vesely resides in Vienna, Austria, and
recently opened his own American film company,
Noetic Films, Inc., in Southern California with
the purpose of producing and distributing films
with depth, meaning, and substance. With Noetic,
audiences across the world will now have the
opportunity to share the vision he puts to
screen!
